Live Webinar: CUI – The Big Picture and Its Even Bigger Overlap with Export Controls

January 13 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Most compliance officers have heard by now. There’s a new acronym that defense contractors are becoming familiar with: CUI. Controlled Unclassified Information. Even if you’re not a defense contractor, anyone who works with the government will soon hear about CUI as the program continues to be rolled out through all government agencies. What is it? Where does it come from? What does it have to do with export compliance? How does the CMMC, NIST 800-171, etc. fit into all this?

This webinar will explain what CUI is and the story behind how it ended up on the desk of many compliance officers. We will discuss how CUI is identified and who has responsibilities for what between the government and contractors. Additionally, we’ll cover the broader context of CUI in the cybersecurity frameworks and where this crosses roles with export compliance. Sometimes having a big picture can help put everything in perspective.

Learning objectives:
     •  Defining the terms, frameworks, and agencies involved
     •  Understanding how the CUI program came into being and the problems it attempts to resolve
